Some people claim the island was named after them while others say
Columbus named the island after the day he discovered it, Sunday. More certain
is the fact that Dominica is totally different to the other islands here, both
in history as well as today’s situation. Very hilly with few beaches and even
less tourists, it is a contrast to the others. Instead of swimming, hiking is
the thing to do here and the highlights are rivers, 365 of them apparently.
